Christine Hepler Livengood

Mrs. Christine Hepler Livengood, 97, of Salisbury, NC went home to be with our Lord on March 14, 2024. Born June 1, 1926 in Cooleemee, NC to the late Margie Speaks Hepler and William Roy Hepler. She attended the Cooleemee School. She was a homemaker most of her life but worked at Laguna for over 20 years. She took pride in loving everyone and making them a part of her family. Chris, as she was affectionately known, was a lifetime member of The Arbor Church (Gays Chapel), former member of the United Methodist Women and recipient of their Lifetime Membership Award. Having been a very active member of the church, she taught Sunday School, and was leader of the UMYF for years. She loved to cook and bake. The leftover food was usually sent home with everyone after lunch on Sunday. She was also 4-H Leader for the Woodleaf 4-H and was a member of the Woodleaf Home Demonstration Club. Chris was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Oscar Livengood and her second spouse, Ray Burton Livengood; as well as seven of her siblings and a granddaughter, Jaiden Clause. Those left to cherish her memories include a son, Nelson Livengood of Salisbury; daughter, Linda L. Ervin and her husband Steve Ervin of Statesville; three grandchildren, Kelli Clause, Crystal Ervin and Chris Ervin and his wife Kelli; three great-grandchildren, River Clause, Madison Ervin, and Gavin Ervin; one sister Geraldine O’Neal and lots of nieces and nephews which she adored. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, which she considered as her sister, Katrina Gortman. Others close to family members, Claudette Miller, Machayla Dutcher, Dean Davis, and Travis Ouelette. The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Sunday (March 17) at The Arbor Church (5545 Woodleaf Road, Salisbury, NC 28147). The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. with burial following in the church cemetery. There are not enough words of gratitude to express what Autumn Care (1505 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146), Trellis Hospice (301 S.
