Charles Steven Adams

Charles Steven “Sonny” Adams, age 71, of Charlotte passed away on Saturday morning ,January 7, 2012 surrounded by loved ones at Carolinas Medical Center’s Dickson Heart Unit after a courageous month long battle. Mr. Adams was born May 17, 1940 in Rutherfordton and was one of two children born to the late Edith Carver Adams and Steve Clay Adams. Steve was raised in Salisbury, NC and graduated from Boyden High School. After high school he served in the US Air Force, worked at Delta Airlines as a ticket agent, a salesman for Guardian Glass and American Air Filters, and was a sales rep for Anabolic Labs before opening and running his own Chiropractic Distribution Company, Adams/Anabolic Distributing for over 37 years. He was preceded in death by his much-loved sister Jane Nail. Steve was the dearly loved husband of Sandra Fesperman Adams for over 49 years. He will forever be remembered by his beloved children Mark and Paul Adams, treasured grandchildren Brandon, Jonathan, Mikayla, Keegan, Harrison, Sullivan, and Joshua Adams, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him. Steve was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church for over 30 years, teaching Sunday School, participating on many committees, and serving as a Deacon. He loved traveling, riding motorcycles, fishing and spending time at the beach, laughing, and being with his family, and having fun with many friends. Steve touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark wit all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend a service on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 11:00AM at Summersett Memorial Chapel 1315 W. Innes St., Salisbury conducted by Dr. Henry Ward pastor of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte. Visitation will be from 10-11:00 AM Tuesday. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family requests in lieu of flowers, that all donations be sent to either American Diabetes Association, 222 South Charlotte St., Suite 336M, Charlotte, NC 28202, or the American Heart Association/Stroke Association, 222 S. Church St., Suite 303, Charlotte, NC 28202.
