Billie Campbell Beattie

Billie Campbell Beattie, born March 25, 1931, passed peacefully on October 2, 2024, at the age of 93. Billie lived a long, fulfilling life and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She spent many years as the Senior Property Manager of StorageMax Crossgates in Pearl, Mississippi, continuing her work well past retirement age due to her dedication and love for her profession. Billie was married to the love of her life, Spurgeon E. Beattie, for 73 years before his passing on December 15, 2019. Together they built a strong and loving family. She is survived by her children: Steve Beattie (Joy) of Madison, MS, Shirley B. Sells (Steve) of Salisbury, and Elaine Gilbert (Dick) of Brandon, MS, and daughter-in-law, Medina Talley Beattie of Muscle Shoals, AL. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Harriet L. Roey of Fayetteville, GA. She had 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Billie was predeceased by her parents, Stella H. Kamping and Thomas Lee Campbell, Sr. of Salisbury, NC, son, Spurgeon E. Beattie, Jr. of Muscle Shoals, AL. She was a woman of great faith, attending Crosspointe Baptist Church in Concord whenever she could. Billie loved reading, tending to her flowers, and watching hummingbirds, but her greatest joy was in her relationship with her Lord and Savior, whom she loved above all else. She never missed a day she didn’t write all prayer requests down in a notebook one by one as she prayed for them. Billie will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and friends, her faith, and her kind, gentle spirit. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She never met anyone she didn’t like and saw everyone through the eyes of Jesus. Her final words to her daughter were, “Please tell my grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren how much I love them.” A celebration of her life will be held at the Salisbury National Cemetery Annex, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144, at the pavilion on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 11:00 am. Another service will be held in Pearl, MS where she lived most of her life. Details pending. In honor of Billie’s deep family ties to the military (son and husband), memorials may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
