Barbara "Bobbie" Cornelius Everhart

Barbara (Bobbie) Cornelius Everhart, age 88, of Spencer passed away on Friday March 15, 2024 at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. She was born in Mecklenburg County on February 16, 1936 a daughter of the late Forest Troutman Cornelius and Willia Louise Millerschon Cornelius. She was a 1954 graduate of Spencer High School and a 1957 graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. On November 16, 1956 she married the love of her life, Joe Everhart. The were married for twenty-five and one-half years until his death on August 6, 1982. Bobbie was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church in Spencer. In her earlier years she participated in many church activities. She loved music and sang in the choir for many years before becoming choir director. During this time she became founder, organizer and director of the first singing Christmas tree at Central Church. This was a community of voices. Her work with her choir members and the community voices became some of her favorite memories. Bobbie retired from Rowan Regional Home Health and Hospice. Her work with the patients and their families were very rewarding to her. Those preceding her in death in addition to her parents and her husband are a brother Forrest T. (Buster) Cornelius Jr.; sister and brother-in-law Ruth Cornelius and Whitie Carpenter and brother and sister in-in-law Conrad (Buddy) Dorothy Cornelius; niece/sister Tonya Rape. Those left to cherish her memories are sons Jody Everhart (Melinda) and Terry Everhart (Nancy); daughters Lynne E. Purvis (Neal) and Beth E. Love (Johnny); grandchildren Jason Everhart (Savannah). Jordan Love (Monica), Kayla Mickey (Ryan), Jessica Morgan (David), Heather Resino (John), Devan Purvis, T. J. Everhart (Caity), Allison Alexander and Brian Hall (Jennifer Wagoner); Great grandchildren Kamel Alexander, Jackson Hall, Breckan Hall, Willa Love, Colton Mickey, Kayleigh Resino, Emerson Morgan, Josselyn Love, Joseph Resino, London Mickey and Landon Morgan; sister-in-law Diane Everhart; many special nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6-8 PM, Tuesday, March 19, at Summersett Funeral Home. Service: 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 20, at Central United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Steve Combs and Rev. Don Mason with burial to follow at Rowan Memorial Park. The family would like to thank her special caregiver Debbie McLaughlin for her dedication and devotion to her care.
