Allen DuBose Cook

Allen DuBose Cook, 55, of Salisbury, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022 following a brief illness. Allen was born in Salisbury, NC on July 20, 1967. He was the son of Sara DuBose Cook and Robert L. Cook, Jr. He was a graduate of Salisbury High School, class of 1985. He was graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a B.S. degree in business administration. Allen was the fourth generation owner and president of J.H. Cook and Sons in Granite Quarry, NC. He was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, confirmation mentor, and middle and high school youth group leader. A special interest was Teens With A Mission where Allen helped lead several trips to Mexico and Costa Rica. He also served the community as an Assistant Scout Master of Troop 443 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Allen was a beloved husband, father, son, and brother. He is survived by a host of family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors who loved him dearly. Allen was a pastor at heart, a true gentle servant, never hesitating to help someone in need. His kindness and humble leadership also touched many people in his community. Allen enjoyed spending time outdoors hiking, camping, mountain biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, and spending countless hours working in his immaculate yard. Allen loved his animals, his beloved dog Lilly and grand dog, Nova. He also spent time caring for the birds local to his backyard. In addition to his parents, Allen is survived by his cherished wife of 31 years, Michelle E. Cook; sons, Christopher Allen Cook (Taylor) and John Carter Cook; as well as his brother, John Robert Cook (Susannah); nephew, Jack Cook and niece, Addie-Grace Cook. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Creola and Allen DuBose and Ruth and Robert Cook, Sr. A service to celebrate Allen’s life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Salisbury on Saturday, October 15th at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow in Lewis Hall. In lieu of flowers and in the spirit of Allen’s charitable and generous heart, memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church Teens With A Mission, Rowan Helping Ministries, and The American Heart Association.
