Shirley Reavis Hodge

Shirley Reavis Hodge, 86, of Woodleaf, NC passed away, Friday, July 12, 2024 at her home after a heartbreaking decline from dementia. Born December 1, 1937 in Yadkinville, NC to the late Maude Reavis Gunter, she was a graduate of Woodleaf High School. Mrs. Hodge was a member of Needmore Baptist Church where she met her husband of 67 years, Jack Hodge. They met in the 3rd grade. Her biggest joys were being with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with her friends. Mrs. Hodge loved to travel with family and friends and also working in her community. For many years, she was a Sunday School and Church Bible School teacher, a leader of the Church Youth Group and she served as the Church Treasurer and Director of the WMU for many years. She was a Grade Mother for her 4 children at Woodleaf Elementary. She was a fabulous seamstress and made several beautiful wedding dresses and numerous bridesmaids dresses. She was thankful to be a long-lived breast cancer survivor and participated in events to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. In addition to her mother, and stepfather, Roy Gunter, Mrs. Hodge was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hodge on May 18, 2023 and her sister, Patsy Reavis Durham. Those left to cherish her memory her daughter, Deborah Hodge of Charlotte, NC, sons, Jack Hodge Jr. (Teresa) of Salisbury and Ronnie Hodge (Wendy) of Woodleaf, NC, and daughter, Lynn Hodge Weisler (Paul) of Salisbury; grandchildren, Philip Jack Hodge (Suzy), Mallory Hodge Whitley (Jason), Chase Kyles (Lindsee), Meredith Weisler Norvell (Philip); great-grandchildren, Jessie, Bekah, and Alexander Jack “AJ” Hodge; Ellory and Jacksyn Whitley; Elizabeth and Alice Norvell. The family gives thanks to her faithful and loving caregivers: Tami Nianorius, Lisa Robertson, Melanie Mowery, Deborah Petersheim, Fannie Miller, Angela Bates, Lisa Hodge and Sue Whitley. Visitation will be held 2-3 p.m. Tuesday (July 23) in the Fellowship Hall at Needmore Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. in Needmore Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Williams officiating and assisted by Rev. David Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Susan G.
